Knowing "in position" scales will make you sound like a pro - because you'll be able to play some simple licks or passing tones between chords like we do in this video

Practice the "in position" scales below and next time you want to add some cool licks you'll know what notes to use - otherwise you'll be out of key...

If you're in the key of G use the notes in the G scale etc...

Use the following left hand fingering: 1st fret = 1st finger, 2nd fret = 2nd finger, 3rd fret = 3rd finger, 4th fret = 4th finger.

Place your thumb in the middle of the back of the neck as well - this is the most efficient way to play the scales - you will notice the left hand dose not move while playing through all of them.

Start at the begging and play through each one 3 of 4 times then move on to the next one. Each time you beginning a scale say the name of that scale out loud - it'll help you to remember which is which...
