If you're in the key of G use the notes in the G scale etc...
Use the following left hand fingering: 1st fret = 1st finger, 2nd fret = 2nd finger, 3rd fret = 3rd finger, 4th fret = 4th finger.
Place your thumb in the middle of the back of the neck as well - this is the most efficient way to play the scales - you will notice the left hand dose not move while playing through all of them.
Start at the begging and play through each one 3 of 4 times then move on to the next one. Each time you beginning a scale say the name of that scale out loud - it'll help you to remember which is which...
