If you have the Play ukulele NOW Method and Songbook you will find not only the charts that are used here but some additional ones in the back of the book.

Let's try a song using the new chords

First let's try the song, Midnight special.

There are three chords, G, C, and D7. For now, ignore the C7 chord; add it later if you like

Take the following steps:

  1. First, find chords as close together as possible on the chord chart. There is a G on the 2nd fret, and a C on the 3rd fret, and a D7 on the second fret. Those chords are the closest together ad require very little left hand movement.
  2. Practice the basic progression and get to know the chords, strum each chord 4 times then move on to the next chord, G, C, D7, after strumming the D7 4 times go back the the G and start over, (repeat a umber of times)
  3. Now play the song, Midnight Special, using the new chords you learned

Now let's play some additional progressions

Below are some very basic progressions using the principal chords in a few keys, you'll find more on principal chords in the in the Play Ukulele NOW Method and Songbook

Do the following for each chord progression:

  1. Find chords on the chart that are close together requiring minimal left hand movement
  2. Play the progression using those chords, (four strums per chord, repeat a number of times)

Progressions:

repeat each progression a number of times before moving on.

C   /   /   /   F   /   /   /   G   /   /   /

E   /   /   /   A   /   /   /   B   /   /   /
